What to Expect from Neck Lift Surgery

Before Your Neck Lift

Prior to your neck contouring, Dr. Cho will perform a physical exam and assess your medical history. If you are a candidate for a neck lift and/or neck liposuction, Dr. Cho will help you prepare for surgery by describing the procedures in depth, answering your questions, and providing you with pre- and post-operative care instructions.

After Your Neck Lift

You will wear a chin strap or compression garment after your surgery to reduce swelling and bruising. You will likely feel tightness and soreness in your neck when the anesthesia wears off. Your discomfort in the first days after surgery will be managed by oral pain medication, although many patients do not require medication.

Recovery After Your Neck Lift

Depending on the extent of your neck lift contouring, the length of the recovery period will vary. Neck liposuction alone usually requires one week or less to recover, whereas the initial recovery period for neck lift surgery is typically one to two weeks. During your pre-operative consultation, you’ll be given detailed aftercare instructions and a complete timeline of your recovery experience. Our team will schedule follow-up appointments and be available to you at all times, to ensure that you recover speedily and comfortably.

Dr. Cho’s’s Neck Lift Approach

If your only concern is a sagging and wrinkly neck, your surgical plan will involve removing excess skin, tightening muscles, and repositioning tissues to create a more toned and contoured appearance. Your surgery will be performed under local, IV, or general anesthesia and will likely take about two hours to complete.

Incisions will be made around your ears, allowing Dr. Cho to reposition muscles, remove excess fat, and address the presence of excess tissue that may be keeping you from enjoying a youthful look. Dr. Cho will discuss incision placement and your surgical technique with you during your pre-procedural consultation, answering any questions you might have.

For permanent fat reduction in the neck area, liposuction is performed under local, IV, or general anesthesia. Dr. Cho will place small incisions on each side of your neck or under your chin before loosening and removing fat cells are loosened using a suction tube known as a cannula according to the specifics of your bespoke treatment plan.
